Dr. Andry Vleeming, PhD

Dr. Vleeming is a professor at the Ghent Medical University at the department of rehabilitation and Kinesiotherapy and visiting professor in Clinical Anatomy at the University of New England, Maine USA. He received his Ph.D. at the Erasmus University Rotterdam in the Netherlands, with specialty in anatomy, biomechanics and radiology of the human pelvis and spine.

Dr. Vleeming is the Chairman of the World Congress on Low Back and Pelvic Pain and one of the authors of the European Guidelines of Pelvic Girdle Pain (2008). This has led to many publications in Spine Journals concerning the function and diagnosis of the pelvis and spine.

He started cooperation with the North American Spine Association to supervise the world congress on lumbo pelvic pain. Dr Vleeming’s research is focussed on understanding chronic lumbo pelvic pain and to develop evidence based rehabilitation for chronic pain patients.

Dr Vleeming has written more than 59 peer reviewed articles in leading musculoskeletal journals. He is author of 15 books on musculoskeletal system and editor of 20 books an 18 book chapters.
